Leeway

Terms of use

For the Leeway iPhone app and this website.
Last updated 18 October 2026.

The agreement

These terms are between you and Hamad Qadi (“I”, “me”), the developer of Leeway. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, delete the app.

Your purchase itself is governed by your agreement with Apple, including Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Where these terms and Apple’s conflict on matters of purchase, billing or refunds, Apple’s terms govern.

What Leeway does

Leeway sets alarms. It estimates how long your drive to work will take, subtracts that and your morning routine from the time you need to arrive, and sets an alarm for the result. Drive times come from Apple Maps.

Alarms and estimates: the important part

Leeway is a convenience, not a guarantee. It predicts traffic, and predictions are wrong sometimes. An alarm can also fail to ring for reasons outside the app’s control: the phone is off, out of battery, damaged, in a state iOS does not wake from, or a system permission was withdrawn.

Do not rely on Leeway alone where being late or missing a wake-up has serious consequences — a flight, an exam, a medical appointment, medication, a shift where lateness is a safety matter. Use a second, independent alarm for anything that matters that much.

The app includes a backup alarm set at the latest time you could still arrive, which traffic is never allowed to move, and a fail-safe that sets a cautious alarm when no traffic data is available. These reduce the risk; they do not remove it. You remain responsible for getting where you are going on time.

Apple Maps traffic coverage varies by city and is better in some places than others. For the first week or two, compare what the app predicted against how long your drive actually took, and set your margins accordingly.

Driving

Leeway is not a navigation app and must not be used while driving. Do not interact with it at the wheel. Obey speed limits and traffic law: a leave-by time is an estimate of when to set off, never a reason to hurry.

Subscription

Leeway Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store, offered monthly and yearly. A free trial period may be offered to new subscribers.

If a subscription lapses, every alarm feature keeps working. Only the frequency of traffic checking returns to the free allowance.

The free plan

The free plan includes all alarm features and one traffic check every 30 days, plus a small number of checks when you first set up or change your route. These allowances exist because each check has a real cost to run, and they may be adjusted in future versions. Any change will be described in the release notes.

What you need

An iPhone running iOS 26 or later, a driving commute, and an internet connection at the moment a traffic check runs. The app grants iOS permission to schedule alarms; without that permission it cannot work. Leeway is not designed for walking, cycling or public-transport commutes.

Acceptable use

Use Leeway for your own alarms. Do not reverse engineer, decompile or modify the app except where law expressly permits it; do not attempt to bypass the subscription or interfere with the service; and do not redistribute the app or its sounds, fonts or artwork as your own.

Ownership

The app, its name, design, artwork and original alarm sounds belong to me. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, as set out in Apple’s standard licence terms. The typefaces are licensed under the SIL Open Font License and remain the property of their authors.

Your data is yours. I claim nothing over your addresses, alarms, routine or history, and as the privacy policy explains, I never receive them.

Warranties

Leeway is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, I make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that traffic estimates will be accurate. Nothing here excludes any right you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded, and in some countries those rights are considerable.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using Leeway — including lost earnings, a missed appointment, flight, exam or shift, disciplinary action, or any other consequence of being late or of an alarm not ringing.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim — which for most people is the subscription price, and for free users is nothing. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support for Leeway. Apple is not responsible for the app or for any claim relating to it, including product liability, regulatory compliance, or intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Changes, and ending this agreement

These terms may change as the app changes. The date at the top shows the current version, and continuing to use the app after a change means accepting it. If you do not accept a change, delete the app and cancel any subscription through Apple.

I may stop distributing or supporting Leeway. If I do, the app you have installed keeps working for as long as iOS supports it, and I will not take a payment for a period I cannot serve.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and disputes fall to the competent courts of Riyadh. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings there where that law gives it to you.
